So, you want to entertain? Well, you don’t have to be a socialite, a celebrity, or a high-flyer to throw a fabulous party. Uber-publicists Lara Shriftman and Elizabeth Harrison, principles of the fashion and lifestyle PR, marketing, and events planning behemoth in New York, Los Angeles, and Miami, are teaming up with Karen Robinovitz, a New York-based writer who covers tony party scenes for Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, In Style, and the New York Times, to bring you FÊTE ACCOMPLI!: The Ultimate Guide to Creative Entertaining (Clarkson Potter; September 2004; $24.50; hardback), a complete manual filled with everything you always wanted to know about producing fun, fabulous, and fierce soirees.

In this information-packed guide to cool, the authors show you how to be the host of all hosts, whether you’re doing cocktails and cupcakes for fifty, a hangover brunch to heal your ten best friends, an elegant, sophisticated dinner, a lovely afternoon tea, or something wild and crazy till 5a.m. It’s fun, accessible, practical, and packed with the kind of information everyone needs, including:

l How to get started – a comprehensive checklist to plan the ultimate party
l Themes to remember (rollerskating, martinis and manicures, 70s, Ken and Barbie)
l How to whip up a stellar invitation, whether you go the classic Cartier route, do it yourself on the computer, or send something kitschy
l What to imbibe and ingest: a guide to setting up a home bar, making high-octane concoctions the A-list guzzles (the Harry Cipriani bellini, the Bond Street saketini, Da Silvano’s Sgroppino, and Trader Vic’s Scorpion bowl), as well as delicious recipes from the world’s trendiest and most classic spots, such as Le Cirque in New York, Miami’s Joe’s Stone Crab, Ago in Los Angeles, and Utah’s venerable Stein Erickson Lodge.
l The music you’ll need to keep on rockin’ in a free world – or to create the posh ambiance of an exclusive affair.
l Cheap tricks to make your party extra fab (hire an astrologer, turn off all the lights, light up a cake with sparklers and play the theme from “Star Wars”)
l Tips from celebrity experts, such as Puff Daddy, Joan and Melissa Rivers, Sarah Ferguson, Diane Von Furstenberg, Bobbi Brown, and more.
l What to stock in your bathroom (T.P., a bowl of wrapped mints, lit scented candles)
l Etiquette (how to pose for a picture, what to wear, how to write the perfect thank you note)

FÊTE ACCOMPLI!: The Ultimate Guide to Creative Entertaining is a timely, user-friendly reference book, a witty, innovative manual that is hip, cool, and fun.
